The European Commission proposes to integrate Ukraine into the EU roaming area from January 2026.
This is evidenced by a post on the social network X.
Joining the EU roaming zone will allow Ukrainians to use Ukrainian mobile numbers for calls, SMS and mobile internet in all 27 EU countries at no additional cost.
The same conditions will be available to EU citizens travelling in Ukraine.
This applies to calls, text messages and mobile internet. It is also expected that the quality of communication and speed of the Internet will remain the same as at home, and access to emergency services will be free.
As previously reported by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, the European Commission has approved Ukraine's accession to the EU's Roam like at Home policy. The final approval of this decision by the EU Council is now pending.
As a reminder, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law that opens the possibility of Ukraine joining the single roaming area with the European Union.
