In the Lisky neighbourhood of Mykolaiv, 19 high-rise buildings have been repaired, yards and intra-quarter passages have been arranged. The work is being carried out by UNOPS with funding from the Danish government.

This was reported by NikVesti.

The main construction work began in autumn 2024, and now only small details remain to be completed. During this time, the courtyards have been renovated, as well as intra-quarter passages to improve access for emergency services, pedestrian paths, parking spaces, and recreation areas with benches and trash bins.

«In 16 buildings, both living quarters and common areas were renovated. In three more, only apartments were renovated. In-block passages were also renovated. In total, the project covered about 500 households. Today we are also handing over the intra-block paths, the restoration of which was initiated by the city authorities. Currently, we have a high level of satisfaction among residents,» said Svitlana Zakrynytska, UNOPS representative.

Vice Mayor Serhii Koreniev recalled that the neighbourhood was heavily damaged in 2022 when a rocket hit the yard and the debris damaged neighbouring houses.

«A missile hit here, and almost the entire neighbourhood was damaged. Our housing and communal services department repaired the roofs of the damaged houses. To make the changes noticeable, we improved the inter-quarter passages, arranged pedestrian paths and parking spaces. This is an important project that significantly improves the quality of life in the neighbourhood,» said Serhii Koreniev.

He added that cooperation with the HOPE project is also planned, namely the implementation of cluster restoration in the Lisky neighbourhood:

«There is still a lot to do, a lot to do. And the city will invest money, and we have big plans for this neighbourhood with the HOPE project, which is being developed together with the Ministry of Infrastructure.»

The city council added that they do not know the exact cost of the work, as funding is provided directly through the international organisation. However, according to the website of the state DREAM system, the restoration of these residential areas is preliminarily estimated at around 250 million hryvnias.

We would like to remind you that international partners are currently engaged in the restoration of houses in the city. The reconstruction of destroyed residential areas is already underway in the city: two locations in the Lisky neighbourhood and one in the Korabelnyi district. Six contractors are working to restore the neighbourhoods.

In total, residents of 42 high-rise buildings in all three locations are having new balconies and windows installed in their apartments and entrances.
