The European Union will continue to fund security projects in Ukraine in 2025-2027. The priority is to train the Ukrainian military and invest in the defence industry.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

During a meeting between Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Valerii Churkin and Managing Director of the Department for Peace, Security and Defence of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Benedikta von Seherr-Toss, these issues were discussed.

«Although Russia talks about a possible ceasefire, in reality it is preparing for an even larger war. They are conducting a new wave of mobilisation, increasing weapons production and stockpiling long-range missiles», said Valerii Churkin.

He also noted that Russia is working more closely with Iran, North Korea and China. Therefore, according to him, Ukraine, together with European countries, should strengthen their cooperation to counter this «axis of evil».

Benedikta von Seherr-Toss said that the European Union would continue to actively support Ukraine in the security and defence sector.

The parties agreed that the main area of cooperation is training of Ukrainian military in the EU and investment in the development of the defence industry. They also discussed how to make this training more useful for Ukraine's specific needs.

As a reminder, the Council of the European Union has approved the allocation of 3.5 billion euros to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility. Ukraine expects the funds to be disbursed soon.
