Zelenskyy: Russians ask for silence on 9 May, but they attack Ukraine every day

This week — from 28 April to 4 May — Russia used more than 1,180 attack drones, 1,360 guided bombs and 10 missiles of various types against Ukraine.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

«The Russians are asking for silence on 9 May, but they are hitting Ukraine every day. This is cynicism of the highest level. We need a real ceasefire. Ukraine is ready for silence from any day, but for at least a month to end the war. If it's silence, it's every day, if it's a ceasefire, it's not for their holidays, but every day,» he said.

As a reminder, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a «ceasefire» from 8 to 11 May and called on Ukraine «to join». This decision came in view of the Kremlin's plans to hold a parade in Moscow on 9 May, where a number of world leaders were invited.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected the offer of a truce for only 3 days, saying that «no one would help Putin». He also stressed that Ukraine would not give any security guarantees.

«Our position is very simple for all the countries that went or are going to go to 9 May: we cannot be responsible for what happens on the territory of the Russian Federation. They are providing security for you and therefore we will not give any guarantees,» he said.

As a reminder, since the beginning of 20 April, Russian troops have violated the ceasefire announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on the eve of Easter more than two thousand times.
