Zelenskyy on Pope Francis: He prayed for the peace of Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the news of the death of Pope Francis, stressing that he had been praying for peace in Ukraine.

He wrote about this on social media platform X.

«Millions of people around the world are mourning the tragic news of the passing of Pope Francis. His life was dedicated to God, people and the Church. He knew how to give hope, alleviate suffering through prayer and promote unity. He prayed for the peace of Ukraine and Ukrainians. We mourn together with Catholics and all Christians who relied on the spiritual support of Pope Francis», he said.

As a reminder, Pope Francis died on Easter Monday, 21 April 2025, at his residence in the Vatican's Santa Marta House.
