On Friday, 11 April, a number of regions of Ukraine were covered with snow. Forecasters say that this weather will last until the weekend.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre.
According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre, on 11 April, it will be cloudy and cold in Ukraine, with precipitation in the form of wet snow.
In the Kherson, Mykolaiv and Kirovohrad regions, there will be significant sleet and slush build-up at night and in the morning, with no significant precipitation in the northern and Vinnytsia regions.
In the morning, in most regions, there will be ice on the roads in some places. Daytime temperatures will be 1-6°C, up to 8°C in the east. As a reminder, Mykolaiv and the region have been experiencing heavy snow and blizzard conditions since the night of 11 April. According to forecasts, up to 16 cm of snow may fall in some areas of the region. At 08:50 on 11 April, the movement of trucks and buses was banned on national roads in Mykolaiv Oblast due to the bad weather.
Strong north-westerly wind gusts of 19-24 m/s, heavy precipitation, slush build-up, visibility during precipitation of 500-1000 metres, and visibility during precipitation of 500-1000 metres are expected in Odesa region today. The head of the Kherson Regional Centre for Hydrometeorology, Yurii Kiriyak, said that the temperature dropped to 3 degrees below zero, according to «Vhoru».
«The cold snap was caused by the cyclone «Zion». In April, 5 centimetres of snow is rare. As for the consequences, we all understand that the situation with apricot and other fruit trees is very critical. This year, we will probably be without these delicacies (fruits, — note)», added Yurii Kiriyak.
On 12 April, Saturday, changes in synoptic processes are expected in Ukraine.
«Air flows will shift to the south-west, which is why on Saturday in the south and east of the country, as well as at night in the western regions, there may be light sleet, sometimes with rain. In the rest of the country, no significant precipitation is expected», said weather forecaster Nataliia Didenko.
On Sunday, 13 April, the weather will be similar — mostly without precipitation with a gradual rise in temperature. Forecasters predict night frosts down to -5°C in most regions, except for the western ones, where the temperature will rise to +6°C, although frosts are possible on the ground. During the day, the air will warm up to +7...+13°C, and in the west to +12...+17°C.
