As of 9:40 am on 19 February, Mykolaiv resumed supplying heat to the homes of its residents, which had been cut off overnight. However, it will take some time to restore the right temperature in the heating networks.
This was reported by First Deputy Mayor of Mykolaiv Vitalii Lukov in a commentary to NikVesti.
This morning, residents of Mykolaiv began posting on social media about the lack of heating in their homes in different parts of the city. The information about the heat supply interruptions in Mykolaiv was confirmed by the head of the regional military administration, Vitalii Kim. Mykolaivoblenergo reported that the power outage in Mykolaiv that occurred at night forced the CHP plant to suspend heat supply. In addition, it is known that more than 13,000 residents of Mykolaiv region were left without electricity due to the power outage, but the power supply has now been restored.
«We have preliminary information that heat supply has been restored. This is preliminary information. But it will take some time for it to reach all the houses»,» First Deputy Mayor of Mykolaiv Vitalii Lukov told NikVesti.
He said that the problem was caused by a power surge at night.
«These are external problems. Perhaps they are related to the arrivals in Odesa, perhaps there are other reasons. Firstly, it has to do with the war, with Russia, for which some people in Mykolaiv «are still holding out their hands», despite the fact that they are suffering as much as they are. Not many, but unfortunately, there are some,» said Vitalii Lukov.
The vice mayor of Mykolaiv said that after the air strikes on the Mykolaiv Combined Heat and Power Plant last week, all customers of the heating company are at risk. However, the utility is working to prevent a catastrophe.
«Since the arrival of the aircraft to the plant, all customers have been visiting the risk zone from time to time. The extraordinary efforts of the plant's employees and our utility workers, who are working day and night in the cold to insulate the bombed-out building, have helped to prevent a catastrophe. But we do not know what will happen tomorrow or in half an hour,» said Vitalii Lukov.
Earlier it was reported that Mykolaiv CHP would not be able to restore the power generation destroyed during the last drone attack by the end of this heating season.
