A new ferry line may be opened between Ukraine and Romania

The Ministry of Development plans to modernise the Orlivka-Isaccea checkpoint so that not only passenger but also commercial vessels can pass through it. There are also plans to launch a new ferry line between Reni and Braila (Romania).
This was reported by the Association «Ukrport».
The prospects for communication between Ukraine and Romania were discussed at a meeting in the QUINT format. It was attended by representatives of not only both countries, but also Moldova, the United States and the European Commission.
«According to Serhii Derkach, Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, the Orlivka-Isaccea» checkpoint is being modernised to allow barges and containers to pass through.
«But for these projects to succeed, we need investments from businesses and international partners», added Derkach.
As a reminder, in 2024, Odesa Region ports handled more than 97 million tonnes of cargo, which is 57% more than in 2023.
