The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, signed the amendments to the Law «On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges» regarding the specifics of the qualification exam.

As indicated on the website of the parliament, according to the document, a complex IQ test for applicants for positions in appeals courts and the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) is abolished. In this way, the requirement of 75% passing score for cognitive testing is canceled — HACC will determine it independently.

Also, after making changes for the qualification exam, it will be possible to choose a specialization. In the ongoing contests for appeals courts and HACC, testing on the history of Ukrainian statehood will not be conducted.

From now on, the testing will cover such topics as the history of Ukrainian statehood, general legal knowledge and specializations of the court (administrative, economic or general), and practical tasks will be related to the chosen specialization of the court.

Appointment of judges in the Mykolayiv region

According to the reviewed recommendations of the Higher Qualification Commission dated May 30, the Supreme Court of Justice of Ukraine will submit to the President an application for appointment to the Pervomaisk City District Court and the Leninskyi District Court of the city of Mykolaiv.

In particular, it is recommended to appoint Nataliia Kovalenko to the first, who, according to the declaration in the state register, was previously an assistant judge in the relevant court.

Kateryna Rybitska, who worked as a judge in the Mykolaiv District Administrative Court, is applying for a position at the Leninskyi Court.

In general, the council approved the appointment of 20 people to judicial positions.

Earlier, the Supreme Council of Justice made a decision to submit applications to the President of Ukraine for the appointment of 7 judges to positions in local courts. Among them is a candidate for a position in the Bashtanka court.

We will remind you that on May 9, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a number of decrees on the appointment of judges to positions in local general, commercial and administrative courts, as well as in regional commercial courts. Four of them are appointed judges in the Mykolaiv region.

On May 30, the Higher Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine recommended 16 candidates for the positions of judges of local courts in the Mykolaiv region.
