In Domanivka, Mykolaiv region, there are plans to expand the microdistrict for internally displaced persons and build six more modular houses. Currently, housing for displaced persons in the community has already been partially constructed, but there is still a waiting list for settlement.
This is discussed in the article NikVesti «Domanivka. How a waterless region in Mykolaiv Oblast is turning into an energy-independent «Little Copenhagen».
With the support of Denmark, eight houses for displaced persons have already been built in the community, and recently, work has begun on marking out a ninth house. In total, the neighbourhood is designed for 15 houses, so the community wants to complete the project in full.
Each house is a 74-square-metre social housing unit with three bedrooms, a kitchen and a shower room. The neighbourhood, which locals call «Little Copenhagen», has become home to families from the Kherson, Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Currently, 14 children live here, and another child was born after the settlement.
According to community leader Viktor Vlasiuk, at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, there were more than 5,000 displaced persons in Domanivka, and now there are about 2,400. A waiting list for housing has been formed, and the community plans to complete the neighbourhood with the planned 15 houses.
«The waiting list for housing has already been formed, and we want to complete the neighbourhood with 15 houses. The structures are being assembled quickly — the frame is being put together in 2-3 weeks,» adds the community leader.
The houses are insulated, autonomous, and transferred to the community's ownership by a Danish foundation. Residents pay for utilities themselves, and the community provides housing maintenance. Such homes are also used to attract specialists — in particular, two families of doctors live in the neighbourhood.
It should be noted that by the end of 2026, a new water main will be built in Domanivka, Mykolaiv region, as part of a partnership with the Kingdom of Denmark and the international corporation NEFCO.
