Kim's team is counting on help from Mykolaiv's budget to repair the roof of the lyceum in Varvarivka: «Winter will destroy it»

The unfinished building of Lyceum №60 in Varvarivka needs to be roofed before the start of winter. The Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration is counting on assistance from the city budget, as the school is on the city's balance sheet.

«We need to at least cover the building with a roof and install windows to preserve what we have. As it turns out, the building is not yet completed and can already be destroyed by wind, rain, snow», said Tetiana Martichenko, deputy director for educational work.

«Preliminary funds for this are planned to be allocated from the regional budget,» explained Andrii Hreits, director of the RMA's architecture department, to NikVesti.

«We are responsible builders, so we understand that if we don't do this, the entire 4th floor that we have built will at least partially collapse over the winter.

We need to find the funds to make the roof — we plan to allocate them from the regional budget. If we don't make the roof, all the work was done in vain and then we will have to redo», said Andrii Hreits.

However, he also believes that the city authorities should help finance the roof of the lyceum, as the school belongs to the city.

«The city does not help, although it is a city facility. The city could also help in this matter by funding», added Andrii Hreits.

NikVesti asked Deputy Mayor of Mykolaiv Serhii Koreniev for a comment on the city's readiness to help finance the roof of Lyceum №60 and are currently waiting for a response.

Reconstruction of Lyceum №60

The school was destroyed in July 2022. The attack destroyed one of the lyceum's buildings and damaged the nearby playground.

In December 2023, the RMA's Urban Development Department announced a tender to rebuild the destroyed building of Lyceum №60 in Varvarivka. The contractor was «Construction Company «Interbud», which offered to carry out the work for 102.5 million hryvnias.

This year, the government has allocated 76.6 million hyvnias for the reconstruction of the school. The contractor began rebuilding the lyceum in the summer of 2024. The work is scheduled to be completed in August 2025.

According to the project, which was provided to NikVesti, the lyceum plans to build a new three-storey building. On the ground floor, there will be a cloakroom, classrooms, a library reading room, a choreography room, bathrooms and utility rooms. On the second floor, there will be classrooms, the principal's office, bathrooms, physics and chemistry classrooms, a chemistry laboratory, a gym, a shell room, bathrooms and utility rooms. On the third floor, there will be a rehearsal room, assembly hall, locker room, teacher's room, resource room, biology classroom and laboratory, gymnasium, classrooms, bathrooms and utility rooms. The new building is also planned to have a lift.

It is worth noting that the school was the first object of the city's programme «Warm House». It was opened after renovation in autumn 2018. It is worth noting that the Russian Federation launched a missile attack on another building of the institution.
