In Mykolaiv, there are plans to turn the area near the bus station into a recreational space. ScreenshotIn Mykolaiv, there are plans to restore the status of a public square to the area near the intercity bus station on Bohoyavlenskyi Avenue. Currently, this area is officially designated as reserve land for industrial use, although it is not actually built on.
This was discussed during a meeting of the city council’s land commission on 18 March, according to NikVesti.
The plot in question covers an area of 2,600 square metres between Pohranychna Street and the bus station in the Inhulskyi district. As explained during the meeting, this area was previously used as a public square, but its status was changed following an inventory.
«In the past, this was a public garden near the bus station, opposite the roundabout. Following the inventory, the plot ended up in the reserve land category for industrial use. We approached the State Geocadastre to rectify this, but to no avail, so now we want to change its designated use and classify it as recreational land,» explained Yurii Platonov, deputy head of the Land Resources Department.

«Large-scale development was previously planned there, but the project was rejected. As the Land Resources Department correctly noted, this plot needs to be reclassified and its designated use changed specifically to a public square. It is important to us that it is designated specifically as a public square. This will prevent situations in the future where someone tries to set up a kiosk or other structures there. I therefore ask my colleagues to support this decision, as this is a matter of great importance. As in other green spaces, there are attempts to place new structures without land allocation, relying solely on easements, and this must be avoided,» noted Hanna Remennikova, MP and Head of the Inhulskyi District Administration.
It should be recalled that in 2023, the Commercial Court of Mykolaiv Oblast revoked the state registration of the leasehold rights to a 1,400m² plot of land valued at 2.6 million hryvnias, located near the intercity bus station.
This concerns a green area at the corner of Bohoyavlenskyi Avenue and Pogranichna Street, where in 2021 the company ‘Alekta’ began construction work and erected metal structures. At that time, the city council leased this area for the improvement and maintenance of green spaces without the right to build on it. However, upon the expiry of the contract, the tenant did not return the plot and, without proper grounds, continued the lease due to changes in the state register.
This caused outrage among residents, as trees had been felled on the site. The city council stated at the time that the work was illegal.
