Kim and the ombudsman's representative commented on Facebook regarding the authorities' readiness for blackouts

A public debate arose between the head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, Vitalii Kim, and the representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights in the Mykolaiv region, Spartak Hukasian, about the effectiveness of local authorities in the context of the difficult energy situation.

The discussion flared up under Spartak Hukasian's post on Facebook.

He stated that a week without electricity and heat had demonstrated the lack of systematic work by the authorities and that, in his opinion, the city was holding on primarily thanks to the self-organisation of its residents.

«The last week without light and in the cold has shown one simple thing: the city of Mykolaiv is holding on not thanks to the system, but thanks to the people. Utility services are lost, there is no clear communication, everyone is doing what they can. Neighbours are saving neighbours, sharing heat, generators, support. That is why today it is no longer just a 'hero city'. It is a city of heroes. But the truth is unpleasant: the heroism and dedication of the people should not replace the normal work of the city authorities. In the cold and darkness, we want results, not explanations,» wrote Spartak Hukasian.

The head of the RMA, Vitalii Kim, responded to this publication. In his comment, he sharply criticised the position of the ombudsman's representative and suggested that he join in the practical work of solving energy problems.

«Spartak, what the hell is this? I invite you to any meeting on energy... you can show your skills (which you have, I know from experience) to help. Don’t talk about things you know nothing about,» replied Vitalii Kim.

We will remind you that the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, said that this week the situation with power outages in the region may improve.
