President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Ukrainians in a video message. He confirmed the existence of «Donald Trump's» peace plan and said that the country «could now face a very difficult choice».

The video was posted on the Ukrainian leader's social media.

«This is one of the most difficult moments in our history. The pressure on Ukraine is now one of the heaviest. Ukraine may now face a very difficult choice. Either the loss of dignity or the risk of losing a key partner,» the President said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy clarified that there are two options. The first is to agree to the proposed 28 points of the peace plan, which he called «complex». The second is to face an «extremely difficult winter», which may turn out to be the most difficult on record, and the risks associated with it.

At the same time, he says that in any discussion, Kyiv will insist on taking into account Ukraine's national interest.

«We do not make loud statements. We will work calmly with America and all partners. There will be a constructive search for solutions with our main partner. I will make arguments, I will convince, I will offer alternatives, but we will definitely not give the enemy any reason to say that it is Ukraine that does not want peace, that it is Ukraine that disrupts the process and that Ukraine is not ready for diplomacy,» he said and promised that Ukraine would work quickly.

Separately, Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasised the need to stop the» and «political games».

«You are an adult, intelligent, conscious people who have repeatedly proved this. You understand that at this time there will be a lot of pressure — political, informational, various — to weaken us, to scold us. The enemy is not sleeping and will do everything to prevent us from succeeding,» Zelenskyy said.

Donald Trump's peace plan

On 20 November, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially received a draft peace plan from the US side. According to the American side, it can intensify diplomacy. It was reported that in the coming days, Volodymyr Zelenskyy expects to discuss with US President Donald Trump the available diplomatic opportunities and the main points needed for peace.

The plan has already been commented on in Europe. In particular, Finnish Foreign Minister and current OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Elina Valtonen spoke about the information about the so-called «peace plan». She emphasised that if the content of the plan really corresponds to what the media published, then such proposals cannot be acceptable to either Ukraine or its European partners. According to her, the published ideas «look as if they were written in Moscow» and actually ignore the basic principles of the UN Charter.

Later, Axios published the main provisions of the 28-point «peace plan»of the administration of US President Donald Trump, according to which Ukraine must make concessions to Russia — give up some territories, limit the size of the army and enshrine in the Constitution the refusal to join NATO. White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said that under the new US peace plan, both Ukraine and Russia «would receive more than they have to give».

At the same time, as of 21 November, Russia claims that it has not officially received any new proposals from the US to end the war against Ukraine.
