Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a conversation with him: Ukraine is ready to continue the war with Russia for another two or three years, if necessary.
Tusk said this in an interview with the British newspaper Sunday Times.
Donald Tusk is convinced that Ukraine will retain its independence, but the main question is what will be the price of this struggle and how many people will suffer.
According to him, the Russian economy is experiencing serious difficulties, which have been exacerbated by new US sanctions. He believes that in the long run, Russia will not be able to withstand such a burden. At the same time, Tusk doubts whether the sanctions will remain as strong if Donald Trump determines the policy towards Moscow.
«The Russians have one advantage — they are ready to fight, and this is very important in times of war», the Polish prime minister said.
Donald Tusk also warned that the UK and other countries should not live under the illusion that the war will not affect them. According to him, the threat is global, in particular because of cyberattacks that are already being used against Poland and other countries.
As a reminder, US President Donald Trump said that during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he called for a peace agreement and «to stop where there is».
During the briefing, Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed with his words, noting that «we have to stop where we are now, and Donald Trump is right — it is important to stop it and then start talking».
As a reminder, Donald Trump said that he intends to end Russia's war against Ukraine as soon as possible and is convinced that «is already quite close to this». He also assured that he would not allow the war in Ukraine to escalate to the level of a global conflict.
