Members of the «Coalition of the Willing» have agreed on a new plan to support Ukraine. Its main goal is to force Russian President Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table.

This was announced by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer during a press conference. According to him, the plan includes five main areas:

  1. Maximum reduction of the presence of Russian oil and gas on world markets. The coalition members called on other countries not to buy Russian energy resources;
  2. Unfreezing billions of dollars of Russian assets to finance assistance to Ukraine;
  3. Strengthening Ukraine's air defence system to protect critical infrastructure, especially before winter;
  4. Increasing military pressure on Russia, in particular by supplying long-range weapons;
  5. Continuing to work on security guarantees for Ukraine, including «the possible deployment of a multinational force».

«What happens in the coming months is a key time for the security of not only Ukraine, but also our partners, allies and the UK. That is why we must keep the pressure on Putin to come to the negotiating table», said Keir Starmer.

Earlier, on 24 October, London hosted a meeting of the «Coalition of the Willing», an association of countries that coordinate military support for Ukraine in its war with Russia. Following the meeting, international partners announced new steps to strengthen Ukraine's defence capabilities.
