Vice Mayor Koreniev went on a two-week business trip to a Romanian confectionery «Sweets and Cakes», where «established connections» for the rebuilding of Mykolaiv

In August 2023, Serhii Korenev, the deputy mayor of Mykolaiv in charge of the city's reconstruction, spent two weeks in Brasov, Romania, where he established contacts with a local confectionery to cooperate on the reconstruction.

This is evidenced by the data provided by the Mykolaiv City Council in response to an information request from the Nikcenter Center for Investigative Journalism, according to NikVesti.

In total, in 2023, Serhii Korenev went on eight foreign business trips, in 2024 - nine, and since the beginning of 2025, he has been on five official foreign trips.

In total, in 2023, Deputy Mayor of Mykolaiv Serhii Koreniev spent 78 days abroad, including 15 days in Romania. In three years, Serhii Koreniev has spent more than 200 days abroad.

From 11 to 25 August 2023, Serhii Koreniev was on a business trip to Brasov. The official purpose of the visit was to establish communication on cooperation in the city's reconstruction. The organiser of the trip was «DOSWEET NCAKE S.R.L.».

According to Romanian registries, DOSWEET NCAKE S.R.L. is a small confectionery registered in 2020 in Brasov with the main activity of producing bread, cakes and fresh pastries. The company has one employee. In English, the name of the establishment is «Do Sweet & Cake» (Do Sweet & Cake).

We found the Facebook group of this confectionery, which is administered by a user named Nataliia DoSweet. In her posts, she explicitly states that Mykolaiv is her hometown. Thus, it appears that the deputy mayor of Mykolaiv travelled to establish relations with an establishment that employs the only employee from Mykolaiv.

It is also worth noting that according to open sources, it is in Romania that Serhii Koreniev's wife has been living since the start of the full-scale invasion.

In a commentary to Nikcenter journalists, Serhii Koreniev said that there was a mistake in the response to the request, as he had never been on a business trip to Brasov.

«You are confusing something. So this information is not true. I have never been to Brasov. I have never been on a business trip to Brasov. It must have been somehow... with someone else... If you are asking such questions, I do not need to go on a business trip to leave. I understand the background of the question. Look, I can cross the border. This is either some kind of technical error, I don't understand what it is,» said Serhii Koreniev.

The journalists of the publication also turned to the city council employees who were preparing the response to the request to clarify whether they could have made a mistake. However, after checking the correct spelling of the deputy mayor's trip organiser, they confirmed that the company's name was correct.

It should be noted that the Protocol and International Cooperation Division of the Department of the Mayor of Mykolaiv is responsible for organising foreign business trips for officials of Mykolaiv City Council, and the orders for business trips are signed by the Mayor of Mykolaiv himself, in accordance with the law.

Earlier it was reported that Deputy Mayor of Mykolaiv Serhii Koreniev spent 45 days in the Japanese capital studying the experience of reconstruction and waste recycling.

Since 2022, Serhii Korenev has spent 233 days on business trips abroad in the following countries: in 2022 — Poland, Germany, Romania; 2023 — Poland, the Netherlands, Germany, Japan, Belgium, the United Kingdom (Jersey), Romania; 2024 — Japan, Germany, France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Denmark, Thailand; 2025 — Thailand, the United States, Spain, Italy.

In total, all business trips of the deputy mayor cost the budget 143.5 thousand hryvnias. In the period from 1 January 2023 to the end of 2024, this amount was 113 thousand hryvnias.
