President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that the only state language in Ukraine is Ukrainian.
This is how he responded to Russia's demand to grant Russian an official status as part of a peace agreement, «Interfax-Ukraine»reports.
«We have a state language — Ukrainian. Russia can claim anything it wants. I believe that this is done to put forward ultimatums and complicate the process,» the president said.
Earlier, Reuters wrote that Moscow's peace proposals include not only the transfer of part of Ukrainian territories, but also the granting of Russian as the official language in part or all of Ukraine.
As a reminder, US President Donald Trump said that during the negotiations «Ukraine would receive a lot of land, but would not be in NATO». He also noted that European countries are ready to provide military support to Ukraine, while America will not send its military.
