Kremlin spokesman Dmitrii Peskov has said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is open to a personal meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

He was quoted by Russian media.

According to Peskov, the Kremlin does not rule out a meeting between Putin and Zelensky, but it is possible only if preliminary work is done.

«I would like to remind you that the president himself (Putin — note) does not rule out the possibility of holding such a meeting after the necessary part of the work has been done at the expert level and the proper distance has been covered,» Dmitrii Peskov said.

At the same time, the Kremlin spokesman did not specify what exactly is meant by «the necessary part of the work» that needs to be overcome.

Peskov also added that the Kremlin does not rule out the possibility of a meeting between Putin and Trump's special envoy, Wittkoff, who may arrive in Russia on 6-7 August.

In addition, Trump's Special Representative Kellogg may visit Ukraine this week, before the 8 August deadline for a ceasefire set by the US president for Putin. This was reported by the Kyiv Post, citing two sources.

As a reminder, on 1 August, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine was offering Russia to move from statements and meetings at the technical level to direct talks between the leaders.
