The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Senkevych, has admitted that he has faced technical difficulties in introducing artificial intelligence into the work of the city council sessions, which he announced at the beginning of the year.

He said this during his press conference on 30 July, answering a question from a correspondent of NikVesti.

It should be noted that back in January 2025, Oleksandr Sienkevych said that he planned to introduce artificial intelligence to automate the process of reading out draft decisions during city council meetings. He explained that it takes too much time to read out a large number of draft decisions, so technology can greatly simplify this process. The mayor instructed the city council's digital governance department to develop a system that would automatically read out the numbers of draft decisions.

«It's a very funny progress, people are blocking the participation of artificial intelligence in the sessions. Technically, I think this is possible in the near future. To be honest, I find it difficult to call 300 files into the microphone at each session, so I think it will be fine if artificial intelligence does it for me, having a list of files. It's just technically difficult to identify the ones that have already been voted on, you need to have a small CRM system to mark them: This was voted on at the last plenary session, this was excluded, and so on, and we need to create an interface. It turned out to be not very easy,» said Oleksandr Sienkevych.

It should be noted that according to the Rules of Procedure of the Mykolaiv City Council of the VIII convocation, approved by the decision of the City Council of 24 December 2020 No. 2/35, the chairman of the plenary session clearly announces the draft decisions of the Council on which voting is proposed.

As a reminder, Mykolaiv-based agricultural company «Nibulon», which also has the status of a demining operator and a certificate for non-technical survey of territories, is going to use artificial intelligence (AI) to reduce the cost of humanitarian demining.

It was reported that more than 50% of requests to «Diia» are already processed by artificial intelligence.
