US President Donald Trump announced the deployment of two nuclear submarines «to the relevant regions» after statements by Russian Deputy Security Council Chairman Dmitrii Medvedev.
He wrote about this on Truth Social.
The US President called Medvedev's latest words «extremely provocative».
«I have ordered the deployment of two nuclear submarines in the relevant regions in case these ridiculous and provocative statements turn out to be more than just words,» Donald Trump said.
Trump did not specify where these nuclear submarines would be deployed. At the same time, he expressed hope that Medvedev's words would not lead «to unpredictable consequences».
Trump later said that the nuclear submarines were sent «for the safety of our people».
«The former Russian president made a threat and we will protect our people. Read what he said. He was talking about nuclear weapons. When you talk about nuclear weapons, we have to be ready. And we are fully prepared,» the US President added.
As a reminder, US President Donald Trump gave Russian leader Vladimir Putin 10 days to conclude a peace agreement with Ukraine.
