Ukraine and the United States are considering organising a phone call between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump.

Politico reports, citing two people with knowledge of the plans.

The idea of such a contact emerged on 1 July, when reports began to circulate about the possible suspension of certain types of weapons from the United States to Ukraine.

According to one European diplomat, the US side has already officially informed Kyiv.

«Today, the US is informing Ukraine (of the decision) in Kyiv, and a telephone conversation between Trump and Zelenskyy will be organised in the near future,» said a European diplomat familiar with the plans.

At the same time, the sources emphasise that Washington is not talking about a full-fledged pause in aid, but only a revision of approaches to its provision.

«The US claims that this is neither a pause nor a suspension. The US is still actively working to determine the best way to support Ukraine's defence. This remains a priority,» the source added.

Earlier, the media reported that the United States had suspended the supply of some anti-aircraft missiles and precision-guided munitions to Ukraine due to concerns about its own military equipment stockpiles.
