Congressman Bacon: Peace talks won't stop Putin, Ukraine needs to be armed to the teeth

Following Russia's massive missile and drone attacks on Ukraine this weekend, US Republican Congressman Don Bacon made a strong statement rejecting the possibility of effective peace talks with the Kremlin.

He wrote about this on the social network X.

Don Bacon stressed that diplomatic efforts have no influence on Russian President Vladimir Putin. In his opinion, Moscow is continuing the war to conquer Ukraine and will not stop its aggression until it meets real resistance.

«Its goal is to dominate Ukraine, and it will not stop until it realises that it cannot win», the congressman said.

Don Bacon called on the United States and its allies to take tough action: to provide Ukraine with maximum military support, impose the most severe sanctions against Russia and confiscate $300 billion of frozen Russian assets abroad.

It is worth noting that he has repeatedly criticised the lenient policy towards Russia, including the position of the Trump administration.

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump recently made a statement about Russian leader Vladimir Putin, emphasising that he «has gone absolutely mad». He also warned that an attempt to completely take over Ukraine could lead to the collapse of Russia itself.

Earlier, during a telephone conversation with European leaders, Donald Trump said that Vladimir Putin has no intention of stopping the war in Ukraine, as he believes that Russia is winning. However, Trump said he had no plans to increase sanctions against Russia after his phone call with Putin.
