«I can't say, but I'm partly involved...»: nationalist Karas tells about Ukraine's plans to colonise Mars

Major Yevhen Karas, commander of the 413th separate battalion «Raid» of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said he aims to colonise Mars with the participation of Ukrainians.

He said this in an interview on the YouTube channel «U lizhku»(In the bed).

According to him, the war has only pushed him towards his long-standing goal, which he had been thinking about for more than 10 years. Yevhen Karas claims that he already has connections with international organisations working in areas related to space technology.

«We have to become Ukraine as a state, as a nation. And we, as individuals, should be proud of the fact that we will fulfil the greatest task of mankind at this historical period of time. This is the colonisation of other planets. Maybe when we land on Mars, we will look from Mars to the Earth and see our problems and disputes as small and mercantile compared to the new tasks of humanity. And we are already heading there. I can't say now, but I am partially involved in those people and those planetary organisations that work very closely in the field that is very much related to space colonisation. And it took me a long time to get there. It's very funny now. I've been talking about this for 13 years, and now it's come here through the war. They're just working in a different area now, related to the war, but I see that it's there,» he said.

In his opinion, if the Russians are among the first to fly to Mars, it will be solely to check whether the ventilation at the bases is working and whether the life support systems are functioning safely. The major expressed confidence that Ukrainians should be among the first to set foot on the Red Planet:

«And I want us to colonise Mars. Just like the Russians are now going on the offensive in meaty assaults, this is what the Russians will do with the meaty colonisation of Mars. They will check whether the ventilation is working, whether any phasers are leaking into the power system. And when all these processes are established there, then we will send Ukrainians there. I think about it very, very much, I will live to see the day when we will fly the Ukrainian flag among others, but one of the first on Mars. This is my goal, and nothing else interests me. Look, money, something, women, in short, fame, and so on, well, I already have all of that,» said Yevhen Karas.
