Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared a «truce» from 8 to 11 May. Moscow said that this was due to 9 May, when Russia celebrates Victory Day in World War II.
This was reported by Radio Liberty with reference to a statement by the Kremlin.
«According to the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, taking into account humanitarian considerations, on the days of the 80th anniversary of the victory — from zero hours from 7 to 8 May to zero hours from 10 to 11 May — the Russian side declares a truce», the statement said.
It is noted that all hostilities are allegedly suspended for this period. According to the Kremlin, the Ukrainian side «should also follow suit».
Ukraine has not yet commented on Putin's statement.
As a reminder, since the beginning of 20 April, Russian troops have violated the ceasefire announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on the eve of Easter more than two thousand times.
