US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that the next week will be crucial in negotiations to achieve peace in Ukraine.

He said this on NBC News.

According to him, Ukraine and Russia are now the closest to reaching an agreement in the last three years.

Marco Rubio also said that the United States will not impose new sanctions against Russia, as it hopes to reach a solution through diplomacy.

«As soon as you start doing these things, you abandon them — you condemn yourself to another two years of war, and we don't want that to happen... No one but us is talking to both sides», Marco Rubio said.

To recap, Ukrainian officials met in Paris with national security advisers from France, the United Kingdom and Germany. The parties discussed the possibilities of achieving sustainable peace, including a ceasefire, the deployment of an international military contingent and the creation of a system of security guarantees for Ukraine.
