Leonid Slutskyi, chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Relations, has said that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump could take place in the near future.
This was reported by Bild and Interfax.
According to him, the meeting could take place in February or March.
«February or March, let's not speculate and let the leaders prepare for it competently and comprehensively, but it will be soon,» Slutskyi said.
He noted that the meeting «requires serious preparation, which is currently at an advanced stage», but the likelihood of contacts between the presidents of Russia and the United States «is one hundred per cent».
«So in the near future, I think we will have specific information about the meeting, and I hope that this meeting will have constructive consequences for the most pressing, most urgent issues of today's world politics. I am confident that this will be a landmark meeting, it will not be in vain», says Leonid Slutskyi.
As a reminder, the United States of America is engaged in constructive negotiations on a full-scale war with Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he was ready to sit down with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin for the sake of peace, despite his hostile attitude.
