Conference on Ukraine's recovery held in Rome: how is it useful for Mykolaiv?

On 10-11 July, the Ukraine Recovery Conference was held in Rome with the participation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The conference was also attended by the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, and the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, Anton Tabunschyk, a correspondent of NikVesti reports.

Other representatives from the region were also among the participants: Deputy Mayor for International Cooperation Serhii Koreniev, City Council member Tetiana Dombrovska, Mayor of Ochakiv Serhii Bychkov, and Mayor of Novyi Buh Maksym Lahodiienko.

Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych said that during the recovery conference he met with international partners and invited them to join the recovery of Mykolaiv as early as today.

«We have a very tight schedule. We signed a cooperation agreement with the Italian city of Bari. We had several other working meetings with various structural units of the European Union, the European Commission, the European Congress, and so on. Of course, we have already had meetings here at the URC — I have just had a conversation with the Vice President of the European Investment Bank. Such networking is very important for meeting different donors and investors. There was a very large number of panels prepared to make a statement about our city and show that Mykolaiv is a progressive city, despite the fact that we are very close to the war zone. However, we are working on the post-war development of the city and engage our partners, offering them to start training people, young people and so on without large investments,» said Oleksandr Sienkevych.

In total, Mykolaiv signed five agreements and memorandums of cooperation with international partners over the course of two days. In particular, with the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) for more than 14 million euros. These funds will be used to install individual heating stations and build three solar power plants.
