In addition, councillors will petition for the deputy head of the Youth and Sport Department to be nominated for the Verkhovna Rada’s Pylyp Orlyk Award.
The decision was adopted at a session on 18 June, according to NikVesti.
Alla Velikhovska, Director of the Department of Education and Science at the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, explained that 10 local communities had submitted 15 proposals for teachers to be nominated for the Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi Award. The commission selected two.
«This year, the Mykolaiv region has been given the opportunity to submit two nominations. The first candidate must be from the field of general secondary education… The shortlist included teachers working in general education institutions, as well as those in vocational and pre-higher education,» explained Alla Velikhovska.
The committee selected Svitlana Myroniuk, a teacher of Ukrainian language and literature. She works at the «Perspektyva» Lyceum in the Domanivka Settlement Council.
«This is what we call the face of the region. A teacher who has been working for many years. She was the winner of the ‘Teacher of the Year’ award and took first place in Ukraine. Over the course of her career, she has mentored a large number of winners of academic competitions at all levels, as well as the Junior Academy of Sciences,» said the director of the Department of Education and Science.
The second nominee for the award was from the field of pre-school education. There were five nominees in total. The choice fell on Larysa Semeniuk — a pre-school teacher at the Halahanivka Gymnasium, which comprises a primary school and a pre-school section.
«She is also a very well-known teacher in our region and beyond, who actively promotes the Mykolaiv region; she has won the grand prix at regional competitions, a laureate of the regional festival, and has won the All-Ukrainian remote arts competition «Oberehova Motanka Doll 2026»,» said Alla Velikhovska, speaking about the candidate .
In addition, the councillors will be petitioning for Kyrylo Ravinskyi to be awarded the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine’s annual Pylyp Orlyk Prize. He is the deputy head of the Department of Youth and Sport — head of the Youth Policy Division at the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration.
The candidate was presented by Mykhailo Nikolaev, Head of the Department of Youth and Sport.
«From the very first days of the full-scale invasion, Kyrylo initiated and organised volunteer activities in Mykolaiv, set up a help centre at the city’s emergency hospital and, over time, went on to become a co-founder and active member of the SpivDiia Hub, which was based at the yacht club,» said Mykhailo Nikolaev.
According to him, Kyrylo Ravinskyi revived the «Youth Worker» programme, implemented the «Youth Week» and «National Identity Week» projects, and revived and established the Youth Council at the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration.
The deputies supported all three candidates for nomination for the Verkhovna Rada awards.
It is worth recalling that an event was held in Mykolaiv to mark the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine. The Mykolaiv region has been involved in celebrating this anniversary since March. Cultural and artistic events aimed at promoting the creative legacy of the prize laureates were also held at cultural venues across the region.
