Two foreign nationals killed in shooting inside moving car in Mykolaiv

A shooting occurred inside a moving car in Mykolaiv on the evening of 30 June, leaving two people dead. Three people were inside the vehicle at the time.

According to Mykolaiv Oblast police, the incident took place on Heroiv Ukrainy Avenue, near the Shkilna public transport stop.

Witnesses told police that several shots were heard while an Opel car was moving. After that, the vehicle drove into a controlled intersection.

Preliminary information from the police indicates that three foreign nationals were inside the car. Two men were killed in the shooting, while the third person involved was detained by law enforcement officers.

According to the local media outlet PN, all three people involved in the incident were servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The outlet reported that a conflict broke out between the three foreign legionnaires while they were travelling in the car.

The cause of the conflict is still unknown. According to PN, a Chilean national who was sitting in the back seat shot one of the men in the back of the head and fatally wounded another. It is still unclear how the driver ended up outside the vehicle after the shooting.

Police said they seized a weapon from the car.

Investigators, forensic specialists and operatives are working at the scene. Police are securing the area and carrying out urgent investigative actions.

Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the shooting. The legal classification of the incident is still being determined.
