Hundreds of packs of illegal cigarettes were seized in Mykolaiv region over the year: fines amounted to almost ₴500,000.

In 2025, tax authorities in Mykolaiv region recorded dozens of cases of cigarette sales without excise stamps. Entrepreneurs were fined almost 500,000 hryvnias.
This was reported to NikVesti by the Main Directorate of the State Tax Service in Mykolaiv region in response to an information request.
As a result, the following items were seized from illegal circulation:

660 packs of tobacco products of illegal origin worth over 68,215 hryvnias;

108 electronic cigarettes and liquids for them worth 33,097 hryvnias;

26 kilograms of smoking tobacco worth 15,800 hryvnias.
It is noted that 234,500 hryvnias were paid to the budget from financial penalties.
«Financial penalties in the amount of over 472,300 hryvnias were imposed and licences for the retail sale of tobacco products and liquids used in electronic cigarettes were revoked. The budget received 234,500 hryvnias from the payment of financial penalties,» the statement said.
As a reminder, in January 2026, tax authorities in Mykolaiv region conducted 79 business inspections. An additional 91.2 million hryvnias were added to the budget.
According to the regional office of the State Tax Service, 67 million hryvnias were agreed upon based on the reports for the current and previous years, but only 5.3 million hryvnias were actually paid.
During the inspections, the VAT amounts that companies claimed for reimbursement from the budget were also reduced, and the tax credit was adjusted by 1.6 million hryvnias.
