In the first nine months of 2025, 3,179 babies were born in the Mykolaiv region, illustrative photo: ON ClinicIn five years, the birth rate in the Mykolaiv region has almost halved. While 7,558 children were born in 2020, in 2025 the number was 3,179.
This was reported by the Health Department of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration in response to an information request from NikVesti.
It is noted that in 2020, 7,558 children were born, 4,401 of them in Mykolaiv. In 2021, 6,928 babies were born, 4,041 of them in Mykolaiv.
At the beginning of the full-scale war in 2022, 4,175 children were born in the Mykolaiv region, 1,670 of them in Mykolaiv. In 2023 and 2024, the number of newborns increased slightly, but the region did not return to its pre-war level.
Thus, the number of newborns in the Mykolaiv region was as follows:

The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has published a list of the most and least popular names given to children in the second half of 2025 in the Mykolaiv region. Among the popular names are Maria and Artem, among the rare ones — Ella, Toprak and Gabriel.
It is noted that in the first half of 2025, residents of the Mykolaiv region most often chose the following names:
- For girls: Mariia, Polina, Sofiia, Zlata, Anna, Varvara, Anastasiia.
- For boys: Artem, Ivan, Matvii, Tymofii, Oleksandr, Bohdan.
At the same time, parents in the Mykolaiv region often preferred rare and unusual names:
- Among the unique names for girls: Liubov, Ahata, Albina, Luna, Adele, Daiana, Neonila, Ella, Kvitoslava, Ustinia.
- Unique names for boys: Orest, Dominik, Milen, Luka, Martin, Demian, Lev, Toprak, Adam, Tim, Habriel, Leonid.
We would like to remind you that between 5 and 11 January, 77 children were born in the Mykolaiv region, including three sets of twins.
