Almost 5 million tonnes of waste from destruction accumulated in Mykolaiv region — RMA

As of 1 December, 4,778,996 tonnes of waste generated by the destruction of buildings and structures during the hostilities has been accumulated in Mykolaiv region.

This was announced today, 3 December, during a press briefing by Oleksandra Efymenko, head of the environmental department of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, NikVesti.

According to her, most of this waste is located in Mykolaiv and Snihurivka.

— As of 1 December, there were 7 storage sites in Mykolaiv region for waste generated by damage and destruction of buildings and structures during hostilities, terrorist attacks and sabotage. These are the Mykolaiv community, Snihurivka, Novyi Buh, Inhulka, Pryvilne and Shevchenkove communities. As of 1 December, the amount of demolition waste generated as a result of the sabotage is 4 million 778 thousand 996 tonnes. Most of this waste was counted in the territories of Mykolaiv city territorial community and Snihurivka city territorial community, said Oleksandra Yefymenko.

We would like to remind you that recently, in Mykolaiv, inspectors found construction waste near the Bug estuary. During the inspection on Yakhtova Street in Varvarivka neighbourhood, state environmental inspectors noticed stones, asphalt and soil illegally dumped in the coastal protection zone. At the time of the inspection, there was no new waste.
