Night attack on Kyiv: dead, dozens injured and fires in different parts of the city

The shelling of Kyiv on 14 November. Photo: SESOn Friday night, the Russian army launched a combined attack on Kyiv, using various types of missiles and attack drones. The attack killed 4 people and injured 25 others, including a pregnant woman and a child.
According to the KCMA, the number of casualties increased during the morning. All the injured are being treated. The State Emergency Service confirmed the death of one person and said that rescuers had rescued more than 40 residents during the night operation.
Most of the damage was recorded in the Desnianskyi district. A large-scale fire broke out in a high-rise building between the fifth and eighth floors, killing one person. Rescuers evacuated 14 people, including a child, and pulled another victim from the rubble. Another building in the same district was on fire on the seventh floor — 9 people were rescued and 50 others evacuated.
In Dniprovskyi district, two apartments in a five-storey building caught fire. Rescuers evacuated 17 residents. Another building was also damaged — the fire engulfed the 19th and 21st floors. Wooden buildings covering an area of about 200 square metres burned down on the territory of the sports centre.
In the Podilskyi district, a rocket hit an apartment on the 15th floor, and rescuers evacuated 13 people. In Obolon, the debris caused a fire in a nine-storey building — the fire engulfed apartments from the 7th to the 9th floors over an area of about 100 square metres. One person was rescued.
In Solomenskyi district, a fire was extinguished on the roof and fifth floor of a multi-storey building, and 20 people were evacuated. In Svyatoshynskyi district, a residential building was hit, and apartments on the 19th floor of a high-rise building nearby were on fire.
In Holosiivskyi district, debris fell on the territory of a hospital. Another 15-square-metre building also caught fire. In Darnytskyi district, a part of the school grounds burned down, and in Shevchenkivskyi district, an open area burned down.
As of the morning, the data on the consequences of the attack is being updated. At 7:20 a.m., Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko said that a ten-year-old child was among the wounded. Nine people were hospitalised, including a pregnant woman, while others were treated on the spot.
Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, a spokesman for the State Emergency Service, reported four deaths in the Desnianskyi district of the capital during a news marathon.
«As of now, we have information about 4 dead people in Kyiv. And more than 27 injured. A house in the Desnianskyi district was hit by Shahed. In fact, «pierced» part of the house. And it was at this location that people died. Search and rescue operations are underway. One person has already been pulled out,» he said.
