On the morning of 29 October, Russian troops shelled a children's hospital in Kherson with artillery. At the time of the attack, there were young patients, their parents and medical staff in the hospital.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
As a result of the shelling, the hospital building was heavily damaged, and the blast wave damaged nearby buildings. Law enforcement officials opened a criminal investigation.
According to preliminary data, nine people were injured. Among them are four children and three medical workers. Information on the number of victims is being clarified.
The Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that a 9-year-old girl suffered a mine-blast injury and shrapnel wound to her shin. Employees of the medical institution sustained blast injuries and wounds of varying severity.
All the injured are currently receiving the necessary medical care.
The head of the city military administration, Yaroslav Shanko, said that the women, aged 56 and 66, are in moderate condition — both have mine-blast injuries and shrapnel wounds. A 41-year-old man was seriously injured: in addition to mine-blast trauma, he sustained shrapnel wounds to his head and chest.
As a reminder, Russian troops continue to systematically shell settlements in the right-bank Kherson region. Yesterday, on 28 October, 32 settlements in the region came under fire.
