Contractors dumped construction waste into the river in Mykolaiv: environmentalists and police drew up protocols

On Monday, 27 October, in Mykolaiv, contractors cleaning the territory of the Varvarivskyi Bridge dumped construction waste directly into the river.

This was reported by readers of NikVesti who sent a video from the scene, which shows how the garbage falls from the bridge into the water.

It should be noted that the State Environmental Inspectorate and the National Police responded to the incident.

«At the time of the inspection's arrival, representatives of the Mykolaiv regional patrol police had already temporarily detained three employees of the contractor involved in the incident», the statement said.

As a result of the inspection, environmentalists drew up six reports on administrative offences. Namely, under Articles 82 and 82-5 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences «Violation of the requirements for waste management during their collection, transportation, storage, treatment, disposal, neutralisation, removal or disposal» and «Violation of the rules for waste transfer».

Earlier it was reported that in Mykolaiv, an illegal dumping site was formed in the Ternivka neighbourhood due to the illegal removal of construction and other waste. Residents are asking local authorities to respond and remove it.
