In September, Russian troops launched nearly 6,900 unmanned aerial vehicles across Ukraine, of which more than 3,600 were attack drones of the Shahe» type.
To increase the effectiveness of countering drones, a separate Command of Unmanned Air Defence Systems is being created within the Air Force, according to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.
According to him, the Russians are constantly changing their tactics and intensifying attacks on frontline areas, border areas and critical infrastructure. In this regard, it was decided to strengthen the air defence system: to increase the number of drone interceptor crews, expand the relevant units and train additional specialists.
Oleksandr Syrskyi also noted that the Armed Forces are using attack helicopters and light aircraft to shoot down enemy drones at higher altitudes. He emphasised the need to speed up the development and introduction of new types of interceptors into the army.
As a reminder, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has launched almost 50,000 attack drones «Shahed» across Ukraine.
