On the night of 20 September, Russia carried out one of its largest attacks on Ukraine, using 40 missiles of various types and about 580 attack drones. The city of Dnipro and its region, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, as well as communities in Poltava, Kyiv, Odesa, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were hit.
According to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the main targets of the enemy were civilian infrastructure, residential areas and businesses. A direct hit by a rocket with a cluster munition was recorded in Dnipro, hitting a multi-storey residential building. Dozens of injured and at least three dead have been reported.
The Head of State thanked all the servicemen who defended the sky that night and called on international partners to increase assistance to Ukraine.
«Each such strike is not a military necessity, but a deliberate strategy of Russia to intimidate civilians and destroy our infrastructure. That is why we need a strong international response. Ukraine has proved that it can defend itself and Europe, but to be a reliable shield, we must act together: strengthen our air defences, increase arms supplies, and expand sanctions against the Russian military machine and the sectors that finance it. Every restriction on Russia means lives saved. Thank you to everyone who helps and supports us,» Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
As a reminder, the enemy attacked Mykolaiv with ballistic missiles and drones today, and industrial infrastructure was hit.
