The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, has responded to parents' complaints about school meals. The city will set up a special commission of representatives of the city council to monitor the situation.
He announced this on Facebook in response to several posts from parents on social media, where they noted that the portions were too small and the quality of food left much to be desired.
Sienkevych reminded that this year, for the first time, free meals were introduced for all students. According to him, this is an important step, and the food should not only be nutritious, but also meet all the standards.
«To understand the situation, I am initiating the creation of a commission with the participation of representatives of the city council. My deputy for humanitarian issues will be the chairman of the commission. We will also invite representatives of regulatory authorities, including the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection. I will definitely keep you informed of the results,» wrote Oleksandr Sienkevych.
As a reminder, today parents of schoolchildren sent their complaints about the quality of free meals in educational institutions. According to them, the portions do not correspond to the declared sizes, the food is often cold and the dishes are dirty.

It is known that in the new school year, free meals will be provided to all pupils in Mykolaiv schools — from grades 1 to 11. The funding for meals will be shared: up to 70% of the costs will be covered by the state, and the rest by the city budget.
It should be noted that at the last session, the deputies of the Mykolaiv City Council reallocated the city budget, including 14 million hryvnias for meals for children in the city's schools.
As a reminder, it was planned to spend 146.2 million hryvnias on meals for children in Mykolaiv schools by the end of this year. Earlier it was reported that school meals would rise in price from 1 September.
