Russia's attack on Mykolaiv caused more than ₴20 million in environmental damage

On 6 July this year, Mykolaiv was attacked by Russian kamikaze drones. The attacks affected people and infrastructure, and caused more than 20 million hryvnias in environmental damage.

According to environmentalists, the destruction contaminated an area of over 942 square metres. In addition, the volume of waste was almost 50 cubic metres.

Attack on Mykolaiv on 6 July

On the night of 6 July, Mykolaiv was attacked by enemy Shahed drones. The attack damaged the city's port infrastructure.

In the morning, explosions were heard in the city. The mayor of the city, Oleksandr Sienkevych, reported the destruction. At least ten residential buildings, a catering facility and a bank were damaged. Utilities are already cleaning up the aftermath of the attack.

Initially, one person was reported injured. The number has now increased to two: A 31-year-old woman was hospitalised, her condition is moderate. A 35-year-old man was treated on the spot.
