President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to visit Washington to discuss with US President Donald Trump the details of ending the war and further steps to ensure Ukraine's security.

The head of state announced this following a conversation with the US president.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a lengthy conversation with Donald Trump, first one-on-one and then with the participation of European leaders. The total duration of the talks was more than an hour and a half, about an hour of which was spent directly with Trump.

«We support President Trump's proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States and Russia. Ukraine emphasises that key issues can be discussed at the level of leaders, and the trilateral format is suitable for this,» the President of Ukraine wrote.

The parties discussed the trilateral format Ukraine-US-Russia, as well as the role of European partners in ensuring the country's security. Zelenskyy stressed that key issues should be discussed at the level of leaders, and the participation of European countries is important for reliable peace.

The President also thanked all international partners for their support and coordination of positions, stressing Ukraine's readiness to work as productively as possible for peace.

A spokesperson for the European Commission told «Suspilne» that the call was attended by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Polish President Karol Nawrocki, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Special Representative Steve Witkoff.

As a reminder, the US and Russian presidents did not reach an agreement on a truce in Ukraine during their meeting on 15 August in Alaska, but, according to Donald Trump, progress can be made in this direction. It is possible that another summit could be held soon and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could join it.
