Death toll from overnight attack on Kyiv rises to 28, including three children

As of the morning of 1 August, 28 people, including three children, were killed in a missile attack on Kyiv. 159 people were injured, including 16 children.

According to the State Emergency Service, during the night and morning, rescuers pulled the bodies of 11 more people, including a two-year-old child, from the rubble of a high-rise building in Sviatoshynskyi district. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, with about 70% of the destroyed structures having been dismantled.

Rescuers do not rule out the possibility that the death toll could rise.

«28 people were killed, including three children aged 2, 6 and 17. 159 people were injured, including 16 children», the SES said.

On the night of 31 July, Russian troops shelled Kyiv with missiles and drones. City officials noted that the largest number of children in the capital had been injured that night since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion.

1 August was declared a day of mourning in Kyiv for those killed in the massive Russian attacks on the city.
