The US Embassy in Ukraine has responded to the massive Russian attack on Kyiv on the night of 17 June.
The post was published on the embassy's social media on Wednesday, 18 June, noting that they join the day of mourning in Kyiv for the victims of the Russian shelling the day before.
«We express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. This senseless attack contradicts President Trump's call to stop the killing and end the war», the embassy said.
On the eve of the Russian attack, US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce also commented on the attack. She noted that the United States condemns such attacks.
«We are aware of last night's attack on Kyiv, which resulted in numerous casualties, including the tragic loss of a U.S. citizen. We condemn these attacks and extend our deepest condolences to the victims and the families of all those affected,» said Tammy Bruce.
As a reminder, on the night of 17 June, Kyiv was subjected to a large-scale missile attack by Russia. The strikes destroyed more than 40 apartments in a multi-storey residential building and one of the entrances collapsed.
So far, the death toll has risen to 23, and the bodies of seven more people have been recovered from the rubble.
