Turkey has discovered a new natural gas field in the Black Sea with a volume of 75 billion cubic metres.
This was announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The field is located near the Goktepe-3 well. According to the President, its economic value is approximately $30 billion.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan noted that in terms of production, the field could potentially supply all Turkish homes with gas for three and a half years.
According to Reuters, daily gas production at the Sakarya field, Turkey's main facility in the Black Sea, is currently around 9.5 million cubic metres. The country is actively developing domestic energy resources to reduce its dependence on imports, which currently cover more than 90% of its energy needs.
Turkey is also stepping up international cooperation in oil and gas exploration to enhance its energy security.
As a reminder, during his official visit to Ankara, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. One of the key topics of the meeting was security guarantees in the Black Sea.
