On Monday, 28 April, a gas supply facility in Cherkasy was damaged by Russian drone attacks. The authorities are urging residents of the regional centre and some other settlements to switch off their gas appliances.
This was announced by Mayor Anatolii Bondarenko and the head of Cherkasy Regional State Administration Ihor Taburets.
«In connection with emergency works at one of the gas supply facilities, I would like to appeal to all consumers with a request to urgently turn off gas appliances and not use gas in their private households», said Anatolii Bondarenko.
He promised to provide more detailed information later.
According to Ihor Taburets, enterprises and organisations in Cherkasy, Khutory, Sloboda, Verhuny, Nechaivka, Heronymivka, Khatske and Ruska Poliana are asking to stop consuming gas.
«Due to urgent repair work, we ask local residents to stop consuming gas and turn off the taps on boilers and gas stoves», said Ihor Taburets.
According to preliminary data, the Ukrainian military destroyed 15 UAVs, but there were also hits.
«Critical infrastructure was in the enemy's sights. In particular, a gas facility was damaged. Some consumers in the regional centre and neighbouring villages are currently without gas supply. All the necessary services are working to eliminate the consequences as soon as possible», said Ihor Taburets.
As a reminder, the shelling of Mykolaiv TPP caused more than 500 million hryvnias in environmental damage.
