The head of the Presidential Office, Andrii Yermak, said that Ukraine has expressed its readiness to accept the US proposal for a temporary ceasefire for 30 days.
He made the announcement on his social media accounts after a meeting between the Ukrainian delegation and US representatives in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, today.
«Ukraine has expressed its readiness to accept the US proposal to immediately introduce a temporary, 30-day ceasefire, which can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties, subject to the acceptance and simultaneous implementation by the Russian Federation», said Andrii Yermak.
As a reminder, during his speech to Congress, US President Donald Trump said he had received a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to Donald Trump, the letter states that Ukraine «is ready to sit down at the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring a sustainable peace», as well as to sign an agreement on minerals.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine was ready to sign a minerals agreement between Ukraine and the United States at any time and in any convenient format.
It should also be recalled that Donald Trump ordered the suspension of all military assistance to Ukraine, increasing pressure on President Zelenskyy.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also emphasised his readiness to meet with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, if he receives an invitation to «a constructive dialogue».
At the same time, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitrii Peskov said that the foreign policy approaches of the Donald Trump administration «largely» correspond to the Kremlin's position. At the same time, he acknowledged that relations between the US and Russia still have a long way to go «to improve, but that if there is political will, it can be «overcome quite quickly».
