Over three years of war, the labour market in Ukraine has recovered by 93%

The labour market in Ukraine has recovered by 93% after three years since the start of the full-scale invasion.

According to a study by Work.ua, in February 2025, the number of job seekers reached one of the highest levels since the staff shortage began in the summer of 2023.

According to Work.ua, 60% of all vacancies are in five regions. It is noted that in February 2025, employers posted 98,736 vacancies, which is 4% more than in January.

«As you can see from the graph, this trend is a common phenomenon in the labour market: after the holiday lull, recruiters are stepping up recruitment», the study says.

It is noted that the largest increase in the number of vacancies was observed in Zhytomyr (+7%), Kirovohrad, Rivne, Chernivtsi and Mykolaiv (+6%) regions.

A third (34%) of all vacancies are in Kyiv and the region. Lviv and Dnipropetrovsk regions account for 9% each, another 6% in Odesa and 3% in Kharkiv. In all leading regions, the number of vacancies increased in February.

It is noted that in February, almost half (44%) of all vacancies were concentrated in five out of 28 categories:

  • «Working specialities, production» — 16 thousand 703 vacancies, +5% compared to January;
  • «Service sector» — 14 thousand 535, +5%;
  • «Sales, purchasing» — 12 thousand 450, +5%;
  • «Retail» — 11,392, +5%;
  • «Logistics, warehouse, foreign trade» — 10 thousand 314, +4%.

Also, according to the study, in February 2025, the average salary increased to 23,500 hryvnias, which is 500 hryvnias more than in January.

Earlier it was reported that since 2022, the number of job seekers in the labour market of Mykolaiv region has been significantly higher than the number of available vacancies.
