The fourth power unit of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant has completed the liquidation of the consequences of the Russian attack, but monitoring will continue.

According to the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management, a rescue unit and mountaineers will be on duty at the plant. Radiation and thermal imaging monitoring will also continue.

«Today, at a meeting of the emergency response headquarters at the «Shelter», it was decided to completely eliminate the consequences of the Russian drone attack on the New Safe Confinement of the Chornobyl NPP. The next step is a thorough analysis of the damage to the NSC Arch», the statement said.

It should be reminded that 400 thousand euros will be allocated for the expert assessment of damage to the New Safe Confinement Arch. These funds will be provided from the administrative budget of the International Cooperation Account for Chornobyl.

As you know, on the night of 14 February, a Russian attack drone hit a shelter over the destroyed fourth power unit of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant. On 17 February, firefighting was suspended. Experts are monitoring the situation.

As of 22 February, rescuers continued to eliminate the consequences of a Russian drone strike that hit the shelter of the fourth power unit.

It was also reported that drones with thermal imagers were involved in the response to the Russian attack.

Later, the Government allocated more than 1.5 billion hryvnias to keep the Chornobyl NPP shelter safe after the Russian attack. The funding was increased by 139 million hryvnias compared to 2024.
