On the night of 22 January, Russian troops attacked Mykolaiv, firing seven Shahed drones. The debris caused six fires in different parts of the city, including damage to a housing co-operative in the city's central district.

Two people were injured — a 74-year-old woman who was hospitalised in serious condition and a 59-year-old man who was treated on the spot.

The journalist of NikVesti spoke to one of the residents of the building who helped to rescue his injured neighbour.

«After the explosion, I immediately ran out of the house. I heard my neighbour screaming. She was pinned down by debris up to her knees, and one leg was stuck. The fire was already engulfing the house,» says Ihor.

According to him, together with two neighbours, they tried to pull the woman out of the rubble before the rescuers arrived.

«We freed her, although it was very difficult because she remained in the centre of the fire. After that, the rescuers arrived,» he said.

Igor also said that his apartment was damaged by the explosion: «The ceiling almost fell on me when I was in bed. But the main thing is that we managed to save my neighbour».

Residents of the building say that 13 families live in the housing co-operative.

«Fortunately, most of them were not injured, except for the neighbour we pulled out of the fire,» he added.
