During his visit to Kyiv, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide announced a new financial aid package for Ukraine worth $400 million.

This was announced at a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, according to Ukrinform.

According to the Norwegian official, half of this amount — $200 million — will be allocated to priority needs, in particular the purchase of gas and the restoration of damaged energy infrastructure. Ukraine will receive another $200 million as direct budget support.

Espen Barth Eide stressed that the funds must be transferred immediately to help Ukraine get through the winter and ensure stable heating and electricity supply.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha noted that Norway was among the first countries to respond promptly to Ukraine's request for additional gas supplies. In the autumn, the Norwegian government already provided energy assistance worth about $150 million.

In addition, Andrii Sybiha said that in 2026, Norway plans to allocate $8.4 billion to support Ukraine, maintaining the level of assistance provided last year. He also noted the country's active participation in the PURL programme.
